Preparation Proposal

A Personal TMUA Preparation Proposal

Prepared exclusively for the Ramachandran family

Thank you again for taking the time to speak with me, and for your note straight afterwards. Following our conversation, I have set out a clear plan for the year ahead, keeping the preparation both financially comfortable and academically optimal.

Why we start with foundations

The most effective TMUA preparation does not begin with the TMUA. It begins with genuinely strong A-Level Maths and Further Maths, the machinery the test quietly rewards. There is little value in drilling past papers months before the mathematical maturity is there.

So we use the autumn to build those foundations properly, then sharpen towards the TMUA from January onwards. For a student who already works well on his own, this is the fastest route: he stays comfortably ahead of school, and every session pays off twice, once for his A-Levels and once for the test.

A simple first step

Start with a diagnostic

Before you commit to anything, we begin with a single hour together. You will both see exactly how I work, and I can tell you honestly how much your son actually needs from me.

Diagnostic & Roadmap

One hour, one-to-one with your son

£150 one-off
  • A full diagnostic of where he stands in Maths & Further Maths
  • First selected TMUA questions, to see how he thinks
  • A personalised roadmap through to Christmas
  • A proper walkthrough of the platform, together
Credited in full against your first month if you decide to go ahead, so if we continue, the session effectively costs nothing.

Further Maths Foundations

Build genuinely strong A-Level and Further Maths, stay comfortably ahead of school, and lay the groundwork the TMUA rewards.

Led by his needs

Introduce TMUA methods and logic gradually, and flex to whatever school throws up, a hard Further Maths topic or a set of mocks, while the platform keeps him moving.

Intensive TMUA

Full focus on past papers, advanced mathematical reasoning, timing strategy, and repeated mock exams under real conditions.

Final Polish & Exam

Final mock assessments and applications support, leading up to sitting the TMUA in the October window.

Official Registration & Administration

What to expect for your son's cycle next year (based on current UAT-UK guidelines)

Key Milestones for an October Sitting

  • July: Test booking opens. It is strongly advised to book as early as possible to secure a convenient time at a local Test Centre.
  • Mid-September: Deadlines for requesting access arrangements (e.g. separate room, extra time) or bursaries. (Requires up to 10 working days for approval.)
  • Late September: Strict test booking closure. UAT-UK does not accept late bookings under any circumstances.
  • Mid-October: The TMUA test window.
Important: applicants to Oxford, Imperial or Cambridge must sit the test in this October window.
  • Mid-November: Results are released directly to candidates via their UAT-UK account.
Current test fees: a test costs £78 for candidates in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and £133 for candidates sitting elsewhere.

How we'll work together

One honest plan: a weekly hour, and the platform doing the heavy lifting between sessions. No tiers he doesn't need.

The Partnership

September 2026 → October 2027

£700 / month
  • A weekly one-to-one hour, shaped to the calendar above
  • Full access to the platform, his structured training between sessions
  • All problem sets, past papers and TMUA materials
  • Priority replies whenever he's stuck
  • A short progress review each term, so you always know where he stands
  • A committed rate, held all the way to the TMUA
Because you are planning for the long term, through to the TMUA and your younger son after him, this is a committed partnership rate, set well below my standard monthly. The early start does real work too: the autumn strengthens Maths and Further Maths, so nothing is wasted.

Deliberately a single plan, not a menu, it is exactly what he needs and nothing he doesn't.

Complete flexibility during Year 12

Starting early means the sessions never have to be exclusively TMUA-focused.

Further Maths Support

If a challenging topic appears at school, we can dedicate a session to it.

Mock Exams

If school mock exams are approaching, we can prepare specifically for them.

TMUA Progression

If everything is going smoothly, we continue building TMUA techniques.

The objective is simple: every session should provide immediate value while progressively preparing for the TMUA.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is built precisely for that. This is not tutoring in the usual sense, with someone doing the maths alongside him. It is direction: knowing exactly what to work on next, and training on the right problems. He drives, I keep him on the right road, and the platform does the heavy lifting between sessions. We meet as much, or as little, as is genuinely useful.

For intensive TMUA drilling, yes, which is exactly why that waits until the spring. For building the excellent Further Maths the TMUA rewards, now is an ideal time.

Absolutely. Maths and Further Maths can become the priority whenever it helps, especially between January and April.
